History of Battle City Battle City is a 2D multi-directional shooter video game, released in 1985. It's based on the arcade game Tank Battalion, which was published by in 1980. The goal of the game is to defend the base by controlling a tank and using it to destroy enemy tanks by shooting and collecting power-ups. It doesn't have a storyline. The game contains 35 different stages (100 in Game Boy version). Each of them has different types of obstacles and terrain. Enemy tanks get progressively harder later in the game and might use advanced strategies to beat the player. After the last stage, the game goes back to stage 1 and continues with increased difficulty.
